Your First Lesson For 2021, Resiliency!

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

Here we are, facing the New Year with intrigue, wonder excitement and some of us we enter the 2021 with fear, 2020 has taught us a lot. Here’s your first lesson for 2021, Resiliency!

“Resilient” is a word used to describe Military-connect the Kids. We could learn a lot from them. With help from KOAH, Kids continue to thrive, achieve and succeed, regardless of the conditions that are placed on them. Over the last 10 or so months, most of us have developed a sense of fear, loss and anticipatory grief. These are just a few of the emotions we as adults we are trying to deal with. Imagine for one moment being a child whose parent(s) is deployed suffering the same fear, sense of loss, and anticipatory grief for many years through all the cycles of deployment. 2020 was challenging for all of us, but not more challenging than what military connected children have on a day-to-day basis. These emotions that we have all suffered through and struggled with are just a few of the emotional struggles military kids have all the time. As we reflect over the year, please know that our lives will improve. There is a bright light at the end of this very dark and gloomy tunnel known as 2020. But, for Kids Of America’s Heroes whose parents are currently deployed or in pre-deployment their struggles and fears continue, 2021 and beyond. In 2020 KOAH continue to try to connect to military children to their communities, albeit a challenge. We continue to send KOAH Hugs to children across the country missing a parent(s) who was deployed. We were unable to host a Fierce Family Workshop in 2020 because of the restrictions of Covid, yet we still offered military kids the opportunity to connect with us via a virtual experience. Lastly, we still have the ability to connect military connected children to resources when needed. With 2020 now behind us, literally our vision is 2020. Let’s use the lessons we have learned, and offer love, light and happiness to our Kids Of America’s Heroes. Please reach out to us if you have any questions regarding how you can help KOAH become a stronger more effective source for Kids Of America’s Heroes.
